The 41st Annual Strong Kids Sustaining Drive will be concluded by April 6 – May 10, 2026.\u00a0 The Annual Strong Kids Sustaining Drive is a very important fund-raising endeavor for the YMCA as it provides financial assistance to many children, adults, seniors, and families who are experiencing financial difficulty.\u00a0 It enables children, adults, seniors, and families with financial support to allow the opportunity to enjoy a YMCA membership and or program.<\/p>\n

How does the YMCA benefit the <\/em><\/strong>people of Christian County with <\/em><\/strong>solutions to common problems\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Problem:\u00a0 A woman in her late sixties was widowed recently and her family lives miles away.<\/p>\n

Solution:\u00a0 She joins the YMCA and walks with new friends every day and enjoys the YMCA Aquatic Exercise Program.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Problem:\u00a0 A young, divorced mother of two, ages 6 and 9, works in Decatur and has to be at work at 7:00 a.m. How can her children be well supervised and get to school?<\/p>\n

Solution:\u00a0 The YMCA Before and After School Program is available to help working parents from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and provides transportation to and from school.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Problem:\u00a0 Siblings enjoy video games and watching a lot of television.\u00a0\u00a0A recent school physical reveals that a less active lifestyle\u00a0has put the siblings at risk of obesity & diabetes.<\/p>\n

Solution:\u00a0 Both join the YMCA and participate in YMCA Youth Sports Program\u00a0and swim three days a week after school.<\/p>\n

Problem:\u00a0 School is out for the summer, and Mom has a new job and three kids have with no-where to go.<\/p>\n

Solution:\u00a0 YMCA Summer Day Camp is the solution to help with all day childcare, providing excellent supervision, quality curriculum and a lot of fun.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The YMCA needs your help. The strength of the YMCA comes from supporters like you who want to help children, and families experiencing severe financial hardship.<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

YMCA Sustaining Drive Funds Support <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Your contribution to the annual drive keeps providing the following successful programs.<\/p>\n

  • Each year provides scholarship memberships to over 200\u00a0boys, girls, adults, and families.<\/li>\n
  • Over 100 <\/strong>children attend YMCA Before and After School Program, and School\u2019s Out Program.<\/li>\n
  • YMCA Day Camp attendance averages 650 <\/strong>campers every summer.<\/li>\n
  • Youth Aquatic Program effectively teaches over 300 <\/strong>boys and girls the importance of water safety and the development of learning proper swim skills.<\/li>\n
  • YMCA Youth Sports Programs such as the Basketball Program, Bitty Ball, Fall Soccer, Spring Soccer, and Skills & Drills Programs has 6<\/strong>00 <\/strong>participants yearly.<\/li>\n
  • More than 200<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>children will benefit from YMCA Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 29th at the YMCA.<\/li>\n
  • YMCA Jr. High Teen Center Program is one of the finest in the United States, successfully serving an average of 50-75<\/strong> teens every Friday night during the school year.<\/li>\n
  • YMCA grade school parties average 50-75 <\/strong>children enjoying the facility features.<\/li>\n
  • The YMCA provides a thirty-day rehabilitation membership to anyone having recent surgery or major medical health problems. Cooperation and approval of physician is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The YMCA never denies membership and program access due to inability to pay. In fact, the YMCA subsidizes thousands of dollars annually to children, families, and adults who are experiencing financial hardship.<\/p>\n
