 Youth Programs at the Y

 Teen Center

 

Teen Center

This program is for students in grades 6th through 8th and
is held on Friday evenings from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Participants
will take part in a variety of activities, such as swimming,
basketball, wallyball, volleyball, ping-pong, foosball and more.

A DJ mixes music from 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Parents are always welcome to come and check things out!

Rate: $8, Y-member: $4

 

 

 Tae Kwon Do

 

Tae Kwon Do
Age 7 yrs. to adult

This is a great activity to do as a family. Lisa Abernathy and
Teresa Gibson teach this class under the tutelage of
Grandmaster Thomas E. Perry. Tae Kwon Do aims to achieve
the following tenets: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self
Control, and Indomitable Spirit.

Rate: $80/session, Y-member: $40/session
Uniform fee: $35 (one time fee)

Mondays, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

If your child is interestedin dance, join one of these combination classes.  Ballet and Tap shoes are needed.
 Winter I Session: January 2 -February 19

Classes will be held on Thursdays.

A basic skill progression will be taught as participants increase motor skillls, coordination, strength and cooperation.  All classes are offered in 7 week sessions.  All classes are on Tuesdays.
 
Winter I Session : January 2 - February 19
Winter II Session : February 20- April 8

 Happy Feet Mileage Club

 
Happy Feet Mileage Club
 
The YMCA invites all youth members to take part in the Happy
Feet Mileage Club. This self paced program is designed to get
children more active and help combat childhood obesity. Each
child will be given a chain on which they will accumulate “foot
beads” for each mile walked. There is no fee to participate. Get
your children started today!

 Youth Fitness Orientation

 
Youth Fitness Orientation 
Age 9-14yrs.
 
This class is designed for youth members, ages 9 – 14, interested
in utilizing the KidzFit Youth Fitness Center. 30 minute
class will be held by appointment. Upon successful
completion of this course, each participant will receive a
“Youth Fitness” card allowing them to use all of the equipment
in the KidzFit Youth Fitness Center. This card must be carried
while exercising to show YMCA staff as requested.
 
Each class will be instructed by a YMCA staff and will cover the
following information:
 
• Proper warm-up, cool down and stretching techniques
• Selection of correct weights, repetitions and sets
• Fundamentals of equipment adjustment and operation (hands-on)
• Basic principles and design of a personal fitness program
• Explanation of KidzFit Youth Fitness Center rules and etiquette
• Proper form and breathing techniques (safety)

 4th & 5th Grade Party

 

3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Party

These will be held two Saturdays each month from 5:00-9:00
p.m. Participants can swim in the Family Aquatic Center from
5:00-8:30 p.m. Concessions are available throughout the
evening. This is an excellent opportunity for children to meet
other kids their own age.

DATES:

Saturdays –  2/18, 3/3, 3/17, 4/14, 4/21, 5/5, 5/19, 6/2

Rate: $10, Y-member: $5

 

 YMCA Camp

It’s not too early to think about what your kids will do next
summer. The YMCA Summer Day Camp is a great place for
kids who enjoy busy, active summers. This indoor/outdoor
program is comprised of many activities including games,
songs, swimming, cooking, field trips, archery, fishing, hiking,
safety, arts, crafts and outdoor education.

2011 Day Camp will begin June 6th.

Child care is provided from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

The hours of Day Camp are 8:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Pre-Care is available from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00a.m.

Post Care is available from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

These services are available at no extra charge.

WEEKLY – $75/member$150 non-member
DAILY (3 days or less)
1st child – $20/day, Y-member
2nd child – $15/day, Y-member
1st child – $35/day, non-member
2nd child – $29/day, non-member
