New
Bus to Christian
County YMCA
Brad
and Karol Davis, co-
chairmen
of the 19th annual
YMCA
auction presented the
new
bus to the YMCA on
behalf
of the 86 donors who contributed
a total of $8,400.
“This
new bus will allow the
YMCA
the opportunity transport (pictured above

in a much safer
Brad Davis, Karol Davis,
and Mike Schroyer) environment”,
stated Karol Davis, auction
co-chair and YMCA
Board member. The
current bus replaces the older bus built in 1982. “We are very grateful to those
donors who contributed to help the YMCA obtain this needed asset”,
cited Brad Davis. The past auction was interrupted part way through by the Davis’ Their
role was to ask the attendees to help the YMCA purchase a new bus. The
auctioneer asked the audience for cash donations and within 8 minutes,
$8,400 was raised to purchase a new bus. With the help of Dr. Gregg
Fuerstenau, Superintendent of Taylorville Schools and Beck Bus Company, the
YMCA was able to purchase a 1996 International Bus with a good preventative
maintenance record. State law mandates the color of the bus be
distinguishable from the traditional yellow so with the help and
contributions of Brandis Aircraft and Lilly Signs, the YMCA was able to
secure a new paint job and graphics. The bus is used daily to transport
approximately 30 children to the YMCA for an after school program. There,
the kids engage in crafts, games, a snack, swimming, and other activities.
